Disneyland's 60th Anniversary

Wow has it been 60 years already? The happiest place is celebrating their diamond anniversary on July 17th 2015. Celebrations kick off on May 22nd. Little by little information is trickling out regarding all the goodies guest will experience
Disneyland will kick things off with a 24 hour event hosted by my dream bff NPH. Yes that's right Disneyland will be open for 24 hours straight!! They have done this type of event before, and I tip my hat to all you crazy people that can do a marathon Disney day. I my friends need my beauty sleep.  But if you are up for the challenge Disney never disappoints and there is always surprises in store on those days.

If you are thinking about visiting the Disneyland Resort and Parks THIS is the time to go. There are so many extra goodies in store for guests. A special parade 'Paint the Night' will light up Main Street USA. A brand spanking new fireworks show is promised to take guests breath away with an immersion of projections and pyrotechnics during the 'Disneyland Forever' fireworks show.  And not to be undone Disney's California Adventure Park will also unleash a special 'World of Color' and the return of Mad T Party.
First Look at Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration MerchandiseYou will also definitely want to get your hands on some of the limited edition merchandise, I especially have my eyes set on the iconic ears.
One thing I can not wait to see is all the special decor. The anticipation of seeing the Sleeping Beauty castle sparkle in all its blinged out glory is killing me. Our friends over at Mouse Chat has some (*spoiler alert*)  beautiful photos of the castle's transformation so far.
I hope everyone gets a chance to visit during this historic time and enjoy all the festivities, rides, and shows.

Sleep Training Part 1

My daughter was a great night sleeper. During the day she would fight naps and would really go down for about 45 here and there, mostly in the car; but at night she was out for the count and we were able to get a restful night sleep. With my son I unintentionally began to co-bed. Now I have nothing against parents who feel this is the best for their family, but for us it was killing my back, sanity and probably my kidneys thank to those little kickers.
At six months I decided I had to get a handle on this and reclaim my bed before things got worse. So I began searching around for how to make this transition and found some great articles, and by great I mean someone else out there was going through the same thing I AM NOT ALONE!
It worked great for about 3 nights instead of waking every 1-2 hours he was waking every 3-4. Progress! But then we all got sick and to cranky, exhausted, and drained to keep up with sleep training and so we were back to square one.
This pattern happened over and over every couple months. Until one night a couple weeks ago I said that's it. At 14 months I knew there was no "need" to wake up and nurse. I also knew that I would have to stick to my guns because as exhausting as it is to wake every couple hours and have little hands claw at you to hold them; it was also deliciously bliss. Those quiet moments in the night, snuggling close and smelling the lotion you put on just before bed to help him sleep (but didn't really work); I was about to give those up. But I knew it was time, and I knew it would be more beneficial for him than me. And it was.
Our bedtime routine is about 7 pm bath, lotion, pajamas, and Taylor Swift. Yep you read right, Taylor Swift. She is the key to this whole operation. We noticed that 99% (my fake statistic) of the time if he was cranky or upset and TS came on the radio or we played one of her YouTube videos he would immediately calm down and start smiling and even wiggle waddle dance. So now we end our evenings with 'Shake it Off" and 'Blank Space.'
Then comes quite time where I nurse for a couple minutes, but in actuality I feel its more of a soothing time more than anything. My daughter loved her "peshis" aka pacifier, Max has never wanted one. I can tell that he's ready for bed because he starts stirring, and rolling looking for a comfy spot. That's when I take him to his room, and place him in his crib. Some days he goes down with out a peep, a simple roll over and a hug to his blanket. Other days he cries and screams bloody murder for a few seconds as I leave the room and settles in. In this round he has never cried more than a few minutes. Before this he could cry for an hour, snooze for 25 minutes and start again.
Now he is asleep by 7:45 pm and I have my evenings back so I can get some work done.
He does still wake up at about 3:30 am, and rise and shine is at about 6:45 am; so we still have work to do but now he is a lot more pleasant, rested, energetic in a good way. He is also less clingy during the day and eager to explore.
Hopefully this is the beginning of sweet dreams.

Kids Workshop Home Depot

Freebie Friday~
Home Depot Kids Workshop

Looking for something interesting to do with the kids? Want it not to cost an arm and a leg? How about encouraging skills they can actually use through-out their life?
I am a huge fan of the Home Depot Kids Workshop. It happens the first Saturday of the month from 9am-12pm or when they run out of supplies. This is a completely FREE program HD does where kids get to build something and get to take it home. Home Depot provides everything you need (hammers, glue, paint, nails, pre cut pieces etc), kids even get their very own orange apron with their name on it!

How it works:

Visit their website and register for an upcoming workshop you plan to attend. There is no fee but they request sign ups to make sure they have enough kits. On the day of, there should be an area set up to complete your project. *Hint* follow all the parents with small kids ;) An associate will give you a kit that has instructions and pieces. Next comes the fun part :build it! When you are done add the finishing touches by decorating your project at the work shop with the supplies provided or do it at home as another day's activity. When you are done have your little one proudly show off their handy work to the associate who will have a certificate and completion pin for them. Kid & parents really enjoy these projects who knows it may inspire some DIY projects your family can do together.

Kids and juice go hand in hand. Juice and kids also equals one big wet mess. This is why I am so in love with Good2Grow's patented spill-proof Sippa Top.
They come in a variety of characters kids love like Dora, Mickey, and Hello Kitty to name a few. If the bottle falls or is squeezed the contents stay safe inside and your little ones stay dry. They taste great coming in kid friendly fruit and veggie juice blends like Fruit Medley, Strawberry Kiwi (made with carrot apple & beet juices!!) and of course the staple 100% Apple juice. If you are looking for and organic option they make Organic Apple.
I personally tried them and they tasted delicious! More reasons why I love them:
Max just recently learned to use a
straw and is loving his big boy status.
