Irvine Railroad Park- Happy Anniversary

Family Fun Day ~
Irvine Railroad Park
Anniversary Celebration
Living in SoCal we have a lot of wonderful places to spend our weekend excursions. One of our family's favorite is Irvine Railroad Park located inside Irvine Regional Park. There is so much to do, you can spend the entire day there. From family bike rentals, and paddle boats, to zoo animals and train ride or simply a picnic with the ducks this place has it all. There are events throughout the year like their famous pumpkin patch, and Christmas train.
This visit was on their annual Anniversary Celebration. This is one of my absolute favorite event, mostly because there are extra goodies to do, and a family of four can have a good deal of fun for not a lot money.
This is Max's second trip to the park but the first time he has been able to walk around and enjoy it, and boy did he. We started the morning with a train ride around the park with commentary from our conductor about the history of the park, and waving to park patrons through out our ride.

J is a sucker for face painting and they did a wonderful job. We saw kitties, dragons, princesses, mermaids, batman, snow queens, tigers and more. J chose to be a beautiful butterfly.

They also have a ring toss and beanbag toss games where everyone is a winner. Every year we've gone the prize is an inflatable animal or crayon.

J struck it rich when panning for "gold."

Max is loves bounce houses, I love that they have an under five, five and over and an all ages bounce house. While we were there there was no line for the all ages so J and Max were able to bounce together and I got to breathe a sigh of relief that there was only 3 or 4 kids bouncing around minimizing the chance of ouchies.

Today was a short trip we only stayed a couple of hours and around the Anniversary Celebration festivities. We packed a lunch and enjoyed the view of ducks and peacocks around the pond; but there are a couple snack shacks that you can purchase different food and snack items. Can't wait for future visits.

  1. How nice to have a place to go that doesn't cost that much. It sort of reminded me of Griffith Park in LA. I love Max's conductor outfit! They have one of those for Duffy too. Glad you guys had fun. :)
